‘Tis the Season to be … Moisturized?! | Winter Skin Products

Lifestyle, Sales, Shopping / Monday, December 11th, 2017

It’s that time of year… The leaves fall, the weather cools, and my skin suddenly transforms from being super oily (mainly in the T-zone) to super dry.  I also travel frequently over the holidays, which takes a toll on my skin. This year, I’m trying to be more proactive about keeping my skin hydrated with a few key products:

Cleanse: Neutrogena Hydroboost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

Find it at Ulta – Retail Price $8.99

I tried this on a whim after receiving it in a free gift bag from Ulta a few months back and have been obsessed since. I like to use this to take off my makeup when showering. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and more plump. Definitely a winner at its drugstore price point.

Tone: Clinique Clarifying Lotion – 3 and 4

Find it at Belk – Retail Price $24.50 (13.5oz)

Applying toner may seem to be a frivolous step, but it’s a game changer for your skincare routine. Clinique offers a great variety of toners, depending on your skin’s needs. The numbering system goes from 1 (very dry) to 4 (oily). I alternate between 3 and 4 since my T-zone tends to be oiler year round. I use a cotton round to apply toner, which really helps to remove any residual makeup, dirt, and oil that my face wash missed. This step also helps to exfoliate any dead skin cells.

Hurry – Find it at Costco ! – Retail Price $43.00 (full size) – Costco Price: $22.99

I picked up a mini, 40ml bottle ($14.00) of this while waiting in the Sephora checkout line about 2 years ago. I had no idea what it did, but the name sounded pretty awesome, and it had a 5 star-rating online. Since this random buy, I have re-purchased the mini bottle at least 5 times.  It really works! Sadly, as I was preparing to finally splurge on a full size bottle during the semi-annual Sephora VIB Rouge Sale, I found out that Sephora stopped carrying this product. Thankfully, you can find it on the Costco website for a limited time at an even better discount. I’ve definitely stocked up! This stuff is amazing!  It’s basically a maple water essence that hydrates and plumps the skin, which really helps to improve absorption and increase the efficacy of subsequent products (e.g. moisturizers, serums, eye creams). I like to think of it as a “booster.” for whatever else you layer on top.

2253558Moisturize (Night): Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

Find it at Belk – Retail Price $35.00 (full size)

Current promotion at Belk – Buy 4 or more beauty items, save 25%

Normally, when I think of masks, I think about having to leave something on and then wash it off some time later. That’s where I get a bit lazy at night… I prefer to apply a product and be done without having to worry about it smearing onto my pillowcase, getting into my hair, etc. This Clinique mask is perfect for a bedtime regimen, because you can apply it onto your clean face and let it sink into your skin overnight. It’s oil-free and helps to soothe your skin as you get your beauty sleep, so you can wake up feeling moisturized.

Moisturize (Day): Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

Find it at Belk – Retail Price $27.00 (full size)

Current promotion at Belk – Buy 4 or more beauty items, save 25%

This is a great, lightweight moisturizer that is perfect for daytime. It absorbs quickly and is also oil-free, so your face won’t feel greasy throughout the day. I like to start off with this prior to applying any makeup.

Find it at Sephora – Retail Price $12.00

This is a great coconut lip balm that is formulated with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to nourish and hydrate lips. It adds a nice shine without feeling sticky. I usually use this at night. I’m also allergic to certain lip products, so I appreciate that this is formulated without silicone, gluten, petroleum, or synthetic fragrances.

Prime: Make Up Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer

Find it at Sephora – Travel Size: $17.00 (better deal than the full size)

If you plan to apply foundation, this is a great primer to help prep your skin. It helps to prevent makeup from emphasizing dry patches and keeps you from looking cakey. Oddly, the full size costs more per ounce, so opt for the smaller travel size to try or to take on-the-go.
